Instructions To Restore A Backup Of Your QuickBooks Company File

• Click the File tab on the QuickBooks window.
• Select Restore a backup copy and then click Next.
• Now select Local Backup on the screen and again press Next.
• Go to the Look In tab and save the backup file in a familiar location on your computer.
• On completion, go to the saved location and open the file. It would go like [company name].qbb.
• Click Open and then press Next button.
• Choose the location where you want to save the backup file in the Save In menu.
• Type a name in the box given for the newly saved file.
• Hit the Save button on the desktop screen.
• Check the pop-up messages that appear subsequently and read them thoroughly before pressing any key.

One of the options would be if you want to replace the already existing [Filename].qbw on your computer, or if you are sure to overwrite an existing company file. Select Yes or No according to your requirements. After restoring the deleted file, check that if it is working properly. Rename it after completing all the formalities.

Note: This restored file might not include the payroll data which you have already sent to Payroll Service. To recollect this missing data, you need to click ‘Send Payroll Data’ from the Employees menu and then ‘Send’ button.
